While the accepted method to finding a specialist is going through your current physician, sometimes a person may not have access to that resource. In these cases, potential patients need somewhere to turn to.

In addition to these resources, it is likely there are also local resources available to you which are provided by your state or municipality. Local hospitals, your health insurance provider, and public medical libraries are also options.

No matter what you need a specialist for, chances are resources exist to help you decide, even if you don’t have a primary care physician.
